This Week in Downtown: July 6th

What a fantastic holiday weekend we had here in Downtown Frederick! Our merchants were booming with opportunities to celebrate the 4th and our streets were packed for First Saturday.  Alive @ Five continues to find success while Yoga on the Creek enriches all who attend.  We can't wait to do it all again this week!

As always, Yoga on the Creek sets off the weekend on Thursday morning at 7am. Sol Yoga will be there to guide your practice, helping you to find your inner peace and utmost health.  Join us under the sky at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater and we'll see you there!

You know what Thursday evenings mean! Come enjoy Downtown Frederick's happy hour at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater from 5-8pm. Admission is $5 (paid at the gate) and all events are 21+ only. This week Alive @ Five is headlines by Vertigo Red, Maryland's premier party rock cover band. We can't wait to see you on the Creek!

Alive @ Five 2017 is a summer-long fundraiser for Downtown Frederick Partnership, presented by DARCARS Toyota of Frederick. These events are made possible by a wonderful team of sponsors. All proceeds from Alive @ Five are reinvested into the downtown community. Stay up to date on weather alerts regarding any event by liking Downtown Frederick Partnership on Facebook or visiting our website.

Friday morning provides another opportunity for Yoga on the Creek, this time with Ananda Shala! Also at 7am at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater, come enjoy this free event that welcomes all ages.

Then pull up a lawn chair and get ready for Movie Nights on the Creek! Originally scheduled for June 16, our first showing of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was rained out. So join us for a do-over this Friday, July 7! E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is Steven Spielberg's classic film about a child who summons the courage to help a friendly alien escape Earth and return to his home world.  Movies are shown at Carroll Creek Amphitheater. Admission is free and snacks & beverages are available for purchase.  Gates open at 8pm, feature presentation starts at 9pm and Closed Captioning is provided.

Movie Night on the Creek is a free community event, thanks to the support of Wantz Distributors, The Delaplaine Foundation, Wegmans, Frederick County Bank, Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, and Rick Jones Electric.

Before enjoying movie night, make your way downtown via The Artists Gallery on N Market Street. Starting at 6pm they will be showcasing Maynard and Wilkin who will present original pieces.  Come hear from the artist and dwell on their creations.

Ready for a glass of wine to end your Friday evening?  Vini Culture will be providing live music from 7-10pm while you enjoy their charcuterie and a glass of your favorite drink.

Don't forget about the fantastic opportunity for an up close tour of the Weinberg Center on Saturday morning!  Learn how their stage comes alive with this back stage pass that offers exclusive access. While enjoying the tour, absorb all the history this historic landmark has been providing our downtown!

After your tour, scoot over to Trellis Takeout at the entrance to Carroll Creek on S Market St. The North Market Pop Shop along with Frederick Fudge & Ice Cream will be serving up delectable treats on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend!

On Sunday morning TAG is offering the opportunity for a creative coffee session!  Come brainstorm with like minded individuals while enjoying local coffee.

We hope Downtown Frederick provided a wonderful kick start to your July! As always, keep your friends and family updated on social media by using the hashtag #getitdowntown throughout the weekend. If you need anymore information on what’s happening, visit our website and explore from there.
