This Week in Downtown: First Saturday + 4th of July

Downtown Frederick is a special place during the summer! With its abundance of activity and opportunity, there's never a lack of things to do.

Last week we broke our Alive @ Five record! 13 years of faithful attendance, wonderful performers, and fantastic volunteers lead us to receiving over 1,200 guests! There was dancing, singing, great food and cold drinks, making for a wonderful evening of community on the creek. So keep the good times rolling this week and check out all there is to see and do in Downtown Frederick!

Don't miss Yoga on the Creek, 7am every Thursday with Sol Yoga at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater. Embrace your body and kick start your weekend with a positive morning work out under the sky!

Needing to stock your kitchen before the July 4th weekend? Walk through the Everedy Square & Shab Row Farmer's Market! From 3-6pm every Thursday pick up produce from local farmers and enjoy delectable goodies!

This week during Alive @ Five, enjoy some jazz and funk with the musical stylings of Ginada Piñata! Their influences of jazz, funk, rock, fusion, trance and drum & bass blend together to create an organic vibe that continually entertains and excites audiences.

Alive @ Five  is a summer-long fundraiser for Downtown Frederick Partnership, presented by DARCARS Toyota of Frederick. The party starts at 5pm and continues until 8pm every Thursday at Carroll Creek Amphitheater! 21+ only and a $5 cover at the gate. All proceeds from Alive @ Five are reinvested into the Downtown Frederick community, so grab some wine, enjoy a beer, and snack on wonderful finger foods while you rock out to live music by the creek!

Ready for the holiday weekend? Embrace the festivities while attending Landless Theater's production of 1776: The Musical, hosted by the Weinberg Center. Watch the days leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, brought to life as local Fredericktonians make their stage debut!

After sleeping in Saturday morning, wake up to the bustling streets of Downtown Frederick's July First Saturday, presented by Frederick County Bank! Hop on the free trolley to see what's going on around town, or just enjoy the relaxing ride. Guests are encouraged to hop on and off at their convenience, with five stops throughout downtown. So watch out for the white trolley and hitch a free ride for First Saturday!

In addition to late-night shopping and local dining, enjoy the ambiance of downtown with live musicians and local artists lining the streets. Downtown businesses will be hosting special First Saturday events, and be on the look out for adoptable doggies as you wander around downtown. With fido by your side, gather at the amphitheater for a special Pooch Parade down Carroll Creek, which will start strutting its stuff toward Market St at 8pm!

As always, First Saturday musicians will be throughout downtown, including Seth Pitt at The MuseThe Luau Cinders & Killers from Space Concert at Sky Stage, as well as Music at Vini Culture.

Shop Pets of Downtown Frederick

Downtown Frederick welcomes your four legged friends! In honor of this year's "Bring Your Dog to Work Day" (June 23), we put together an album highlighting the many shop pets of Downtown Frederick. So get ready to meet the many furry faces that are waiting to greet you and fido, as you shop, dine and play throughout downtown!

Head up to N Market St and meet Bailey (of Bailey's Treasures fame). When she's not busy restoring furniture, you can find her lounging behind the counter with mom and grandma.

Joplin is the designated belly rub receiver of Baltimore Gold of Frederick. It's a ruff job... but somebody's gotta do it!

Say hello to Rudie, the official mascot of Classic Electric Tattoo & Body Piercing and a gentle giant who will melt your heart.

Clue Master Cora is waiting for you to visit Clue IQ. Don't ask her about the rooms though, she'll surely never divulge her secrets!

Just the sweetest guard dog you ever did meet! Stop in at Douglas Zaruba Gallery and Jackie Brown will be there wagging her tail.

He may not be a real dog, but Charity will forever hold a place in our hearts! Find him on the front stoop of Federated Charities Frederick.

Little miss Mia has recently joined the staff at Ananda Shala Yoga, Pilates and More, so get to work on your downward dog and come take a class with Mia and her friends!

If you've ever been in Hunting Creek Outfitters (or even a neighboring store) you've likely met Maizey! The sweetest girl who's always looking for a head scratch or two.

Paws up! The two-faced Harvey Dent will help you pick the perfect treat at Paws In The City-Frederick.

Excuse me dear, how do I look? Little miss Lula from Pearl Clothing Maryland is sitting pretty in her pearls.

Stop by Tenth Ward Distilling Company for your daily dose of Verbal, resident shop cat and whiskey connoisseur (just kidding).

Just look at this face... a heartbreaker if we've ever seen one! Charlie is a dapper gent that you can find part-time at The Muse. You may also recognize him as the face of Dapper Geek USA!

We had to wake tiny Lotus from her afternoon nap to get this adorable pic. What a tough job she has at Time Bomb Tattoos & Curiosities!

If you're looking for a suggestion on the perfect wine pairing, Riley is definitely your girl! Find her expert opinions at Viniferous Wines.

Got a question about bikes? Jimmy has been around the block a time or two and can certainly steer you in the right direction at Wheel Base Bikes.
