Fire in Ice 2017

Downtown Frederick is gearing up for its largest First Saturday of the year with the Partnership’s Fire in Ice event on Saturday, February 4! Featuring performances and activities geared toward all ages, Fire in Ice is sure to be fun for the whole family.

Beginning at 3pm, local businesses will be displaying over 70 dazzling ice sculptures throughout Downtown Frederick! Visitors can take photos of their favorites using the #DowntownFrederick tag for a chance to be featured on Instagram.

While you're wandering around, be sure to check out the live carving demonstration at Brewer’s Alley (124 N Market St).

Still not enough to interest you? How do performances by fire dancers and live entertainers sound? There will also be an ice playground for children (located at Everedy Square) and late night shopping hours at participating businesses!

Fire pits will be scattered throughout downtown for roasting s’mores and - for those who want to do something more regal - you can sit atop an ice throne next door to La Paz at 51 S Market St! Perfect for selfies and group photos.

For anyone 21 or older, the Ice Bar on the Creek is a must. Big Cork Vineyards will be hosting a tasting alongside local breweries and distilleries at Carroll Creek Amphitheater. As a twist on the old formula, tastings will be poured through decadent ice sculptures!

On the warmer side of things, find a hot air balloon demonstration along Carroll Creek Promenade from 3-9pm, with Tailwinds Over Frederick leading the event. Later in the evening, from 7:30-8:30pm, Pyrophoric will be putting on fire performances with accompanying music by Dapper DJs. What better way to round out a winter day than with a jaw-dropping display of talent and grit?

IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION:
Please note that S Market St will be closed on Saturday, February 4 from All Saints St to Carroll Creek Way. Carroll Creek Garage is still open and can be entered from Patrick St, with an exit onto Carroll Creek Way. As always, take advantage of the free First Saturday Trolley, which circulates downtown making six stops along the way.

Additionally, all downtown parking garages will be offering a $5 flat rate beginning at 12pm (noon) on Saturday, February 4. Pre-pay with cash at the time of entry or pay with credit on your way out.

Thank you to our wonderful sponsors - Elliott Marketing Solutions, Elliott CPA, LLC & Big Cork Vineyards for making this First Saturday possible!
