Things to Do This Weekend- 8/19

Weekend, we meet again! We've rounded up just a few highlights to inspire your Downtown Frederick weekend.

Frederick Folk Fest kicked off on Thursday night, but there's plenty more to enjoy throughout this pop-up concert series. Catch the Get Right Band on Friday, the Woodshedders and Kate Powderly and The Unconditional Lovers on Saturday, and Laura Mae Socks on Sunday-- all at the Blue Side.

August's Movie Night on the Creek presents "Raiders of the Lost Arc" on Friday. Whether you're an Indiana Jones fan or simply want to enjoy a flick under the stars, all ages are welcome to enjoy this free event at Carroll Creek amphitheater. Beer, wine, popcorn, candy, soda and ice cream sandwiches will be available for purchase (cash + cards accepted). Gates open at 8pm; movie starts at 9pm.

The lilies and lotus plants are in full bloom! Ever wonder who's responsible for those stunning water plants in the Creek? Color on the Creek is a non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers and Saturday is your chance to celebrate and support them. Music, beer, BBQ and more at Carroll Creek amphitheater from 3-10pm. Learn more and grab your tickets here.

Everedy Square & Shab Row is celebrating Third Saturday with three hours of live music and entertainment on Saturday night. This month's celebration brings you Da'Mood, a collective of musicians whose combined force creates a hybrid sound of spacious experimentation that makes them a hometown legacy. Intermission entertainment brought to you by the Comedy Pigs. Bring a blanket and hang out from 5-8pm on the grassy hillside behind Shab Row.

On Sunday, Maryland Ensemble Theatre will wrap your weekend up with the Last Hurrah. Join Kevin Cole in his weekly comedy show presented by MET-X as he welcomes a panel of comedy writers, actors and special guests to discuss the events of the past week, life and whatever else comes to mind. 7pm, free admission.

Celebrate Frederick continues their Summer Concert Series on Sunday at 7pm with Unity, the reggae band formerly known as Natty Skank. Take in the unique yet true-to-roots reggae sounds of Unity as the sun starts to go down in Baker Park.
